The UVIC Bookstore uses TextSelect to collect course material adoptions, a program created by UVic Software Engineering students at the Bookstore. TextSelect only uses UVic's Netlink Primary ID for signing in. Sign-ins using old TextSelect accounts are now disabled, please use your primary Netlink credentials instead. Role-based credentials are not accepted. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding TextSelect or anything regarding course materials.
We have prepared a user manual to help departments with the adoption system, available here (PDF)
Go to TextSelectPlease send your textbook adoptions to us as early as possible to minimize delays and the resulting problems for your students. The lead time for obtaining textbooks may be one or several months, depending on the location of the supplier and availability of the title. On average, delivery takes approximatively four weeks within Canada, while it may take longer for orders from the U.S.A. and other international locations.
It's important to note that book prices have seen significant and continuous increases in recent years. As a result, the Bookstore has experienced buying resistance for many standard textbooks. Please consider prices and availability before assigning books and bear in mind that the U.S. exchange surcharge and GST must be added.
Additionally, publishers are shifting their textbooks model towards digital formats, meaning that some titles may only be available as digital textbooks.
If you find yourself assigned to a course close to the start of the term, please reach out to us and we will assist you with your request.
Lastly, if you do not plan to use any textbooks for your course or use an etext available at the UVic Library, please let us know, this will allow us to provide better information to our students.
Please do not hesitate to contact the textbook department if you have any questions or need further information about course materials adoptions.
