Textbook Adoptions
The UVIC bookstore uses TextSelect to collect course material adoptions, a program created by UVic Software Engineering
students at the bookstore. TextSelect only uses UVic's Netlink Primary ID for signing in.
Sign-ins using old TextSelect accounts are now disabled, please use your primary Netlink credentials instead. Role-based credentials are not accepted.
Please do not hesitate to
contact us if you have any questions regarding TextSelect or anything
regarding course materials.
We have prepared a user manual to help departments with the adoption system, available
here (PDF)

Textbook Adoption Deadlines
- Intersession - February 1
- Summer - March 1
- Fall - April 1
- Winter - October 1
Please send your textbook adoptions to us as quickly as possible to minimize delays and the resulting problems
for your students. The lead time for obtaining textbooks may be one or several months depending on the location
of the supplier and availability of the title. Average delivery time is four weeks within Canada and longer from
the U.S.A. and abroad.
Please Note: Air shipments of late orders (six weeks before classes start or later) can be
arranged only if your department agrees to cover the shipping costs.
Book prices have risen drastically and continuously over the past years and, as a result, the Bookstore has
experienced buying resistance for many standard textbooks. Please consider prices before assigning books and
bear in mind that the U.S. exchange surcharge and the GST must be added.
The cost of procuring books is reduced where a title can be used for more than one year. Also, students can
then resell their books and others have a chance to buy a used copy at a reduced price. The Bookstore provides
a used book service for students. The list of books
we buy back is based on your stated textbook requirements. Please submit your lists early, as our major
buyback occurs during exams in April.
