About the Author
James Darin Corbiere (Waabi Makoohns) Anishinaabe, Bear Clan, was born and raised in Wii kwem koong, Ontario, on "Da Rez". James is a childhood church trauma survivor, who became a peace keeper (police officer) and later, an Indigenous language teacher. He combines his knowledge of colonial systems and his lived experience with his artwork to create a way in which others can bear witness to the effects and impacts of colonialism, and its impact on Indigenous Peoples in Canada. James is now pursuing his creative endevors full-time from his home in Cowichan Bay, on Vancouver Island B.C., including working on a graphic novel series.
Kristy McLeod is a registered Metis with family roots in the Lac St. Anne and Red River Settlements. She is currently a PhD Candidate in Curriculum and Instruction exploring Metis Identity. Her Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction was focused on how to create inclusive schools. She has been working as an educator in schools for the past 20+ years, both as a teacher in the K-12 system and as a sessional instructor at the University of Victoria.
