Professor Ali Dastmalchian
Ways of Living: Work, Community and Lifestyle Choice
Wednesday, March 17th, 2010 7:30pm - 9:30pm
Professor Ali Dastmalchian, Dean of the Faculty of Business, will launch his new book, Ways of Living: Work, Community and Lifestyle Choice, Wednesday, March 17 between 7:30 and 9:30 pm at the UVic Bookstore. Dastmalchian co-edited Ways of Living and authored one of its chapters.
Ways of Living examines the interactions between the world of work and the broader, non-work world. It explores some of the factors that influence “work-life balance,” including the workplace itself, our sense of identity and community, and our lifestyle choices. Dastmalchian’s own chapter focuses on trends in health promotion, in public policy and in the workplace and their relationship to personal attitudes about healthy living. The chapter notes the role of health promotion in the sustainability of our healthcare system.
The event will begin with a reception, followed by remarks by Dastmalchian and a question and answer session.
